Breakfast as the important meal of the day

Breakfast is any food that you consume first thing after a nights rest and it may actually surprise you to know how important eating, when you eat, and what you eat can determine the rest of your day.

A healthy breakfast would keep you feeling smart, alert and healthy through out the day!


a healthy breakfast before anything else (like avocado) should comprise mainly of

  • A carbohydrate source, glucose is the main energy source for your brain and body. therefore you really wouldn't want to skip a meal or else what would the brain have to work with? this explains why starting off the day on an empty stomach, you may get tired when the days task hasn't even begun (your body has already used up what it stored initially and there's nothing for it to use again)


  • A protein source- proteins keep you feeling full for longer and by that you don't have to worry about skipping your activities for the day to catch up on a meal later in the day on an empty stomach (we all know frustrating and demanding hunger can be)

The most important aspects to note are that

  1. Breakfast improves metabolism

  2. Breakfast enhances work output and maximizes brain function.

This can be gotten by incorporating carbohydrate in your diet . Best breakfast sources are

  • Whole cereals

  • Whole toast such as whole bread (pain complet in French)

  • Ripe Bananas (1 or 2)

  • Apple or Orange

  • Milk


3. It is important to take a breakfast that will keep you feeling full through out the course of the day.

This is the reason why you need to add proteins to your meal. Good breakfast protein sources are

  • Eggs

  • Milk

  • Yoghurt ( you may want to strain it before consuming, however it's still fine)


Also, people who eat breakfast tend to have better weight control and over all health.

So while you may have heard it before, I'm just going to go ahead to say it Don't skip breakfast! It's the most important meal of the day. Prioritize breakfast as part of your daily routine
